DIY Pumpkin Face Mask
With fall among us, some of my favorite things to do include but are not limited to: Netflix and no chill, sip hot cocoa, AND Do-It-Yourself face masks.
With the cold, dry weather in the winter months, our skin can start to look a bit more dull than usual. That’s why I really love to incorporate pumpkin into my fall skincare routine.
Benefits of putting this pumpkin goo on your face you ask? Pumpkin is packed with powerful enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) which increase cell turnover. In other words…the enzymes in pumpkin help to dissolve dry skin so it helps to brighten and smooth the skin.
Pumpkin also contains antioxidant Vitamin A and Vitamin C to help soften and soothe skin, while also boosting collagen production to prevent the signs of aging. It’s win-win-win-win if you ask me.
In addition, it’s packed with Vitamin E, a delicious fatty acid that helps to maintain the skin’s natural barrier which is great for these colder, drier months.
DIY Pumpkin Face Mask:
What you need:
- 1/4 c. pumpkin puree
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp raw honey
- cinnamon
Step 1– Whisk together 1/4 cup of pumpkin puree and one egg. *The yolk adds nourishment while the white provides a little tightening effect*
Step 2– Add a 1 teaspoon of raw honey, which seals in the moisture, but also helps to prevent breakouts.
Step 3– Add a big sprinkle of cinnamon. This natural antiseptic can be super healing for a number of skin conditions — from acne to eczema!
Step 4 – Apply all over your face, relax for 15-20 mins, then rinse it off.
Why Honey? Well, raw honey is super beneficial to your skin! Honey is naturally antibacterial in nature so it works really well for those who are acne prone. Honey is also full of antioxidants and does a great job of moisturizing the skin.
By the way — have you gone to Trader Joe’s lately?! Their Pumpkin food selection is like out of control if you’re a pumpkin freak like me! #yourewelcome
